Close Your Eyes
Our daily life experience keeps our eyes bright and open. We glue ourselves to the screen, and fix our gaze on the road ahead.
This is a call to close the eyes for a few minutes and connect with the breath.
My music studio is cluttered and the acoustics are poor in my home office. So I get anxious when it’s time to do anything with music in here.
Yet if I close my eyes, I can relax into the moment. I remember that this is the only moment that exists. Yesterday has passed and tomorrow is built out of today.
In this moment, no one is criticizing your work, calling you a sell out from the bleachers or reminding you that you are behind schedule in life.
There is just you, a messy blob of form that farts and has BO, channelling some sort of spirit from the cosmos.
Lately I am a bit hyper in the morning, so I have returned to guided meditations to help control my breath. I can’t speak highly enough of the app Insight Timer for finding free meditations that are usually wonderful quality and not over-produced like the brand names.
Here is one of my tracks on there that is designed to help you focus. You can also make use of it on Spotify or Apple Music.
The next Project Lab is on Monday, March 18th at 10am PST/1pm EST.
Come bring something that you’ve been procrastinating to the table and chip away at it for an hour with us.
