Find Your Prompt
Twitter started out by having a prompt in the box that said “What are you doing?”. It now says “What is happening?”.
The prompt gives direction for using the service. By filling in the prompt, people get the chance to express themselves and follow their intuition for better or for worse.
Every time you sit down to write, there is a prompt like that running the back of your mind, whether you’re aware of it or not.
For this newsletter, the prompt is something like, “What is the idea that we all need to be reminded about right now?”.
It’s not that complicated, but it’s easy for me to go off and do other things rather than address the prompt.
To find your prompt, just keep writing.
And when you find your prompt, write it down on a 3 x 5 index card with a sharpie and keep it nearby.
Substack and Threads are great places to write in a low stakes environment. A Substack post can be set to not go out by email, but just show up on your blog.
Nothing you write has to be profound. It is the act of showing up to write that’s the most important thing.
Even if you gave someone 25% of what they needed, that can be just enough to inspire them to do the thing, which is also known as making the change they seek.
Live Session: Finishing Your Most Creative Projects
The start of the school year is another one of those inflection points in the year. For me, it's pretty much a new year in itself.
So I thought it was a good time to talk about what it takes to become a finisher. Perfect is the enemy of done, and people like to be done things.

I have read that there is workshop and course fatigue, but I think differently.
Any time you get people in the room together to discuss and think through their issues, you get energy that’s invigorating, like going to a good fitness or yoga class.
My workshops are hands-on, and there will be parts of this session done in Mural to create a shared virtual space to put our minds together in realtime.
Clicking send in this email is going to feel better than any guilty pleasure I can find out there. I want you to click send on your Most Creative Projects.
