Get on the Bus
You’re either on the bus, or off the bus.
This is the motto of the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and the movement that’s being written about inside the book.
What does this mean for the everyday creative worker bee?
Exactly what’s written on the tin.
You’re either invested in this project, this task, this life, or you’re dipping your feet halfway in. And you can’t dip your feet halfway onto the bus or you’re going to fall off.
Whether you like it or not, this world is spinning with or without you. Only you get to decide how you want to ride the waves that life brings you.
When it’s time to come up with ideas, get on the bus and know that your critics are not coming for the ride with you.
They don’t care about the bus. They have their own bus, train or private jet that they’re riding.
Getting on the bus is an internal decision to commit to the creative act.
It’s also an act of Hell or High Water, a proclamation that I am doing this thing whether you like it or not.
There is unlimited power in letting go of your critics, and today, in this very moment, you get to decide how this is going to work.
Look at the bus in the image above and make up your mind.
