Go Ahead With It Anyways
We can research things until the cows come home.
The perfect travel itinerary. The perfect website. The perfect life partner.
Yet everything is constantly in flux. Our best laid plans always go off into different side quests.
So if you’re ever holding back on something, I ask you to hand it over to this chaotic yet beautiful universe.
If you’re indecisive, come up with a plan for how you will deal with that ahead of time.
I release music every Sunday. At some point I realized that the benefit of doing this is not for anyone but myself.
This deadline forces me to hand my music over to the chaotic universe and let go of perfection.
Another constraint is the amount of tries you get to do something.
In the mixing process, I export the song and it takes a few minutes to render. Then I listen to it in another program and start picking away at it.
After a certain number of exports, it’s obvious that I’m scared and it’s time to let go. It’s time to stop the rendering charade and say goodbye to this song.
Your ideas and visions are put to better use beyond the confines of your mind and into the outside world.
