When it’s time to do a task or a part of a project, we commit to finishing the job.
Yet when it comes time to actually do the work, we realize what we’re getting ourselves into.
Emotions start to bubble up to the surface and we’d rather check out and check into social media.
Ironically, the inspiration for this post came about when I was preparing a post for my personal Instagram account to share some new music I worked on.
So the inner critic showed up in the bleachers telling me that no one cares about this work. That Instagram is for people who have no attention spans and that ambient music doesn’t belong on there.
In that moment, I instruct you to not back down.
You said you were going to do the thing, and you are starting to let your lower self talk you out of doing it.
Because the point of the art is not what is in the content of the work, but the fact that you showed up and you made it happen.
I don’t care if all you got was “this t-shirt”, you’re going to go to sleep, wake up and do it again tomorrow.
