Quietly Trust the Process

Trust on the whole is a macro process. It’s like a credit score going over a long period of time.

Creatives deal with a lot of uncertainty. We don’t know what is at the end of the tunnel, but we can move forward anyway.

It takes us a long time to get our footing in creative work. The process of taking lessons or courses. Being willing to sit down and practice. And then one day, almost like magic, you’re up on stage playing for a crowd of people.

Inside this process are small moments of “micro trust”. You make a quiet agreement with yourself that you are willing to do this work, no matter how loud the voices inside can seem at times.

So, next time you sit down to work, try to buy in to just that session alone. Agree that you will trust it for just that block of time today. If it doesn’t work out, you can always give yourself a refund on that session and go eat an ice cream to shake it off.
