The Way it Begins
Is Never the Way It Ends
The way your week begins is not how it will end.
You might start out the gate like a horse full of piss and vinegar but you can fall flat on your face after two days.
Or the opposite might happen, you roll out of bed Monday morning just not ready for any of it but you pull it together quite quickly and everything’s fine.
A piece of music or writing is subject to the same laws of evolution.
At this point it’s not even about if an idea is good or bad, but if you are willing to sit with it like someone caring for you at your bedside.
This is the point where creativity meets the teaching of the ancient masters.
To learn how to look beyond the surface level of what you see when an idea starts to form.
Meditation trains us to lean into the art of equanimity.
“The muse came to visit me today, and it was gone just as fast”, you might say to yourself.
Yet inspiration and languishing come from the same place. They are built out of the same ingredients, just cooked in different ways.
