Do what you can, with what you have, right where you are
-Theodore Roosevelt 1
One of my Achilles Heels is the search for music and audio equipment.
I love it so much that I could open a store one day and I doubt it would feel like work (we’ve heard that one before haven’t we?).
Yet this passion is also a curse, as I spend hours per week looking through different products and reading reviews.
This shopping hobby is a salve. It’s an ointment that I can rub on the wound that says, “I am not enough”.
Because even my cheaper microphones recorded into my computer are of higher quality than what a lot of classic recordings were able to use. And I can do everything without leaving my home.
And this isn’t even touching on the point that whatever tools you have in this moment is your destiny to use.
So let’s reset thinking about Elliott and music gear for a second and remember that every day is a new chance to alter or improve your relationship with your Most Creative Work.
Take some time for quiet contemplation about the impact that you want to make in this world.
What is the energy you want to send out? It is cool clear steam or is it dark and polluted smog?
Begin where you are, right in this moment. Today, for this is the only day that exists. Yesterday has passed and tomorrow is built out of today.
There are two spots left in the next Project Lab pod (code name Nunu-19) departing on Tuesday.
Any creative can make progress on their work by enrolling in a pod because it gives them the structure to put their head down and work towards their goals.
This quote is misattributed to Roosevelt but is originally from Squire Bill Widener according to some links online which show the original source.
