Staying On Track
Finding a system that works for you
Where do you write down the plan you have set out for yourself this month or this season?
How easily can you find that plan right now?
What’s the next step that you need to take to make progress on a goal that’s meaningful to you?
These are some questions you might want to ask yourself today.
If the answers are hard to come by then you need to re-evaluate where you are storing your ideas and how easy they are to access1.
Digital tools are great for persistent storage. You can find things on your phone when you are out for coffee. Tasks can be moved into calendar events with reminders if need be.
Paper planners are better for making a connection with your brain.
Whiteboards are good for displaying things you need to remember but being able to clear the page quickly.
Post-It notes are good to stick things around your home to remember what you have to get done.
Keep shuffling around until you find a system that works for you.
When working with a team this can get even more complicated. It’s not realistic to dictate a system for others to use. You need to navigate a shared tool and move tasks off it into a system that works for you.
